Quality of tourism that Albania has to offer is improving. This is indicated by the latest figures concerning the number of foreign visitors coming into the country. These figures suggest a significant increase of this number in the month of May this year, 10% higher than a year ago, while the number of foreigners coming into the country in the first five months of the year is 7.7% higher than last year. However, beyond these optimistic figures, yesterday, the country’s office for statistics (INSTAT) has published the figures concerning the number of people exiting the country. According to these figures, the number of Albanian nationals or foreigners leaving the country is higher than the ones entering it. Figures suggest that in the first five months of the year, the number of people entering the country was 3.27 million, while the number of those leaving the country was 3.46 million. Compared to a year ago, there’s been an increase of 7.7% compared to last year. This is also valid for May figures, where the number of people entering the country was 786 thousand people, while the number of those leaving the country was 839 thousand.
“The number of Albanian and foreign nationals leaving the country in May 2018 was 839.235, 6.4% more than the same period a year ago. Meanwhile, in the month of May alone, the number of people leaving the territory of Albania registered an increase of 3.7%”, INSTAT experts cite. All of these comparisons show that there’s a growing trend of Albanians spending holidays abroad, rather than in their own country.
