Justice system in Albania is undergoing deep reformation. This was declared today by Albania’s Prosecutor General, Arta Marka in front of MPs while reporting about the seven month period since she assumed this position. “There have been professional debates between prosecutors, but delivering justice has been our priority. Fight against corruption registers 12 cases of prosecution, 6 involving high ranking officials and 6 involving prosecutors and judges”, she said.
According to her, “organized crime requires a coordinated response. Several criminal groups are under investigation”. Meanwhile she has also praised the fight against drugs and money laundering: “Prosecuted cases relating to the production of drugs have increased by 51.3%. There has also been a growing number of cases involving money laundering. We have collaborated with the prosecution of Bari, Ancona and Lecce in investigating drug traffic cases. During 2017, 145 wanted people were arrested and extradited”, Albania’s Prosecutor General told MPs. /ibna/
