FYROM’s diaspora living abroad is not very interested on voting in the referendum concerning the issue of the name which will be held on September 30th. According to the data supplied by the State Election Commission, so far, there have only been 1500 migrant workers who have registered to vote in the referendum.
Mostly, these are migrant workers living in Switzerland and Slovenia. The voting will take place in diplomatic centers, while the diaspora will have an impact on the general number of voters.
If the referendum result is in favour of changing the country’s name to “Republic of North Macedonia”, then this will become the 30th Nato member and in June 2019, the country will launch EU accession talks. /ibna/
